GXO posts record-setting Q3 earnings results
Greenwich, Conn.-based global contract logistics services provider GXO Logistics Inc. reported a company record for quarterly revenue, in its third quarter earnings announcement earlier this week. Revenue, at $3.4 billion, saw an 8% annual gain, with organic revenue up 4%, and net income, at $60 million, rose 42% annually. Adjusted earnings per share, at $0.79, was flat, topping Wall Street expectations, at $0.77.

Amid economic uncertainty, NRF forecast calls for a record retail holiday sales season
For 2025, NRF said it is calling for total holiday season spending to come increase between 3.7%-to-4.2% annually, coming in between $1.01 trillion-to-$1.02 trillion. In 2024, holiday sales saw a 4.3% annual gain, to $976.1 billion.

ISM reports October Service PMI gains
The October Services PMI, at 52.4 (a reading over 50.0 or above represents expansion and below 50 indicates contraction), increased 2.4% over September's 50.0 reading, which was preceded by expansion in 13 of the previous 14 months before September.

Manufacturing output heads down in October, for eighth consecutive month, reports ISM
The report’s benchmark reading, the PMI, at 48.7 (a reading of 50 or higher indicates growth), was off 0.4% compared to September, contracting, at a faster rate, for the eighth consecutive month, with the overall economy growing, at a slower rate, for the 66th consecutive month.

The Federal Reserve said yesterday that it lowered the target rate, for the federal funds rate, which comes from its Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) for the second consecutive month, dropping it by 0.25%, to 3.75%-to-4.0%, its lowest rate level since 2022.

New JLL report highlights strong Q3 industrial leasing activity
The report, entitled “JLL’s U.S. IND Market Dynamics Q3,” stated that third-quarter leasing volume reached 146.2 million square feet (MSF), marking the highest level of leasing activity since the first quarter of 2024 (and 387.1 MSF year-to-date).

UPS reports Q3 revenue decline, amid strong pricing and lower volumes
Quarterly consolidated revenue, at $21.4 billion, fell 3.7% annually, and basic earnings per share, at $1.74 (topped Wall Street estimates of $1.29), fell $0.24, or 13.4%, annually. Total operating profit, at $1.8 billion, was off 9.1% annually. 

Industrial vacancy rate holds at 6.6% in Q3 amid drop in construction starts and strong 3PL leasing activity, CBRE says
A key thesis in the report was focused on how the pairing of strong leasing and a decline in new construction held the overall quarterly vacancy rate at 6.6%, which the firm said reversed a stretch of quarterly losses that had been intact going back to the second quarter of 2022.
