ISM forecast sees a manufacturing rebound in 2026 as services maintain steady expansion

While economic conditions for the manufacturing and services sectors are mixed, both are expected to see growth in 2026, at different paces, according to the new edition of the Institute for Supply Management’s (ISM) Supply Chain Planning Forecast.

For manufacturing, ISM reported that 2025 revenue is expected to rise 0.1%, coming in 4.1% below its previous forecast, made in December, at 4.2%. ISM member panelists reported that they expect 2025 revenues to be flat, coming in 3.9% below the December forecast.
AAR estimates Class I railroads will spend around $22 billion on U.S. capex and maintenance in 2017

While heading down in recent years, the capital expenditures outlay made by United States freight railroads, specifically Class Is, still remains very impressive. That was made clear in data issued by the Association of American Railroads (AAR) this week, which put the estimated tally for U.S. railroads investment on maintaining and upgrading “the nation’s private rail network” at $22 billion.
