When logistics experts discuss the challenges and prospects for global supply chains in 2023, it’s clear that a multitude of factors are involved. Many shippers and players in the transport and logistics business are currently under great pressure.

This is due to a number of lingering issues including huge increases in energy prices, large fluctuations in the supply and demand for transport capacities, delays in port trans-shipment, and bottlenecks in hinterland transport. Furthermore, numerous countries are experiencing double-digit inflation.

To help manage these growing pressures, shippers are changing the way they manage their global logistics operations—and they’re leaning on their third-party logistics (3PL) providers and freight forwarders more than ever to make that happen.

In this Special Digital Issue, the editorial staff of Logistics Management has curated a number of features to define current state of global logistics and help shippers understand the breadth of services today’s third-party services companies have to offer. For many shippers, the smartest way forward is to create a long-lasting, mutually-beneficial relationship with today’s more multi-faceted, global third-party partners.
