Forrester predicts continued strong retail growth to continue into 2027 with a 10% CAGR over the next five years. This growth will continue to strain warehouse, distribution, 3PL and delivery operations from manufacturing to last mile. 

As enterprises work to meet consumer expectations and deliver on orders, the idea of maximizing productivity becomes almost religious.  Getting the most productivity from every staff member is critical to success and no opportunity is left unexplored.

When it comes to handling product and parcels, the number of items handled per hour is a clear indication of effectiveness and productivity.  At some point items must be handled by staff and scanned for traceability information.
