Camden, N.J.-based third-party logistics (3PL) services provider NFI acquired the freight brokerage operation of New York-based Transfix, a logistics technology services provider that streamlines shipment data to better help shippers make informed decisions to optimize time and revenues.

A key objective of the partnership is to integration is to increase transparency and efficiency during the carrier compliance and onboarding process, while also expanding the Transfix carrier network.

The company said that this was done by entering into a definitive business combination agreement with G Squared Ascend I Inc., a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) sponsored by affiliates of G Squared, a growth-stage venture capital fund manager with a technology sector focus. This expected is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022, with the combined company to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange under “TF.”

Transfix said that the new offering—TrueView TMS—focuses on the various “pain points” that small- and mid-sized shippers handle, while simultaneously having fewer resources, as well as static tools and minimal data.

The objective of the partnership, the companies said, is to collaborate and innovate on logistics-focused transformative capabilities that benefit shippers and carriers.

The study, entitled “The Great Holiday Rewrite: Supply Chain in the COVID Era,” was based on feedback from 600 U.S.-based consumers and 519 U.S.-based supply chain professionals within midsize to large retail or CPG brands who also have familiarity with freight booking and management practices.
