The Sun is Setting on 3G networks
Mobile network providers such as Vodafone, O2, EE and others have been planning to withdraw their 3G networks, which potentially could affect the operation of devices containing SIMs card like Digi-Post Pro’s, Digi-DLs.
How am I affected?
We’ve done a thorough assessment of all devices we’ve supplied, and we believe that they will continue working once 3G disappears as they will downgrade to the slower 2G (GPRS) network. The 2G network will continue for some time, until 2035 as far as we’re aware.
Once 3G has be discontinued, the networks will start to look at 4G networks, in fact some networks have already started.
Device reliability
It’s clear from our analysis that some of the devices in use are getting quite old now. It’s always good practice to proactively consider refreshing devices older than 5-years, like the Grey Digi-Post Pro’s and some Black Digi-Post Pro’s, to avoid any reliability issues.
If you’re concerned about the age of your devices. Then it’s worth giving us a call to talk this through.
