Ford executive presents five-step playbook for transformation at CSCMP EDGE

At the CSCMP EDGE Conference this week in National Harbor, Maryland, Ford’s Doug Cantriel shared how he’s reshaped one of the largest and most complex logistics networks in the automotive industry.

As Head of North America Transportation for Ford’s Customer Service Division, Cantriel oversees a nearly $1 billion transportation budget and manages the delivery of more than 400,000 parts every day to over 3,000 dealers, many of which are overnight. Over the past three years, his team has rolled out new transportation management, real-time visibility, yard management, and final-mile delivery systems, resulting in more than $120 million in cost savings.

Speaking in a fireside chat with project44 Founder and CEO Jett McCandless, Cantriel explained how he approaches major transformation projects. Drawing on decades of experience at organizations such as the Department of Defense, FEMA, Dell, Coca-Cola, DHL Express, Delta, and UPS, he said the key to success is having a repeatable process and sticking to it.
