For October, the most recent month for which data is available, the SCI reading rose to 0.3, after September’s -0.5.

For July, the most recent month for which data is available, the SCI came in at -2.0, an improvement over June’s -2.6 reading.

For May, the most recent month for which data is available, the SCI came in at -0.9, slightly below April’s -0.6 reading.

For March, the most recent month for which data is available, the SCI came in at 0.1, which FTR said was, “basically neutral territory,” following a -0.3 February reading.

FTR explained that tighter capacity and slightly stronger freight volume more than offset lower fuel costs and weaker freight rates.

For January, the most recent month for which data is available, the SCI came in at 0.6, up from a -1.8 December reading and November’s 2.3 reading.

For December, the most recent month for which data is available, the SCI came in at -1.8, following a 2.3 November reading, which was preceded by October’s 1.3 reading.

For September, the most recent month for which data is available, the SCI came in at 4.6, topping August’s 2.9 reading. Looking at prior months, the SCI saw readings of: July at 0.5; June at 0.3; May at 4.5, and June at 3.0—which was preceded by several months of declines.
