The 30th Annual 3PL Study reveals how evolving partnerships and emerging technologies are reshaping the supply chain landscape amid disruption, cost pressures, and labor gaps.

For July, the most recent month for which data is available, the SCI came in at -2.0, an improvement over June’s -2.6 reading.

This year’s honorees demonstrate how leading companies are embedding next-generation technologies into their operations to drive measurable impact and industry leadership.

San Francisco-based Augment, an AI productivity platform for logistics, announced today it has brought its total capital raised to more than $110 million, with an $85 million Series A funding round, which was led by private equity firm Redpoint Ventures, in addition to participation from 8VC, as well as other logistics and AI investors. Augment said this capital raise comes five months after the company came out of stealth mode.

Those costs, which are tied to terminals’ gate operations and related to labor, security/theft, and bottlenecks, are estimated to be at around $6.7 billion annually, based on the company’s analysis of facility labor cost benchmarks and national terminal counts derived from government and proprietary data.

New research takes a deep dive into the top criteria shippers use when selecting or extending transportation providers.

WiseTech said that the purchase agreement was $3.30 per share in cash, for a total of $2.1 billion. The company added that bringing e2open into the fold helps it strategically on various fronts, like adding adjacent markets, customer bases, and product capabilities, enabling WiseTech to “create a global, multi-sided, trade, and logistics marketplace.”

Green Bay, Wis.-based Breakthrough, a provider of fuel and freight solutions for shippers, issued “2025 State of Transportation Report.” A key focus of this report centered around what Breakthrough called an expected freight market flip, coupled with new governmental and economic headwinds that will shape shippers’ strategies over the next 12 months.

The study, entitled, “The Logistics Professional’s Guide to KPIs” was based on feedback from 1,000 North American logistics professionals, including 500 shippers and 50 carriers, across various business types, industry verticals, geographies, and company sizes.

As of January 1, USPS said it will no longer offer discounted rates through negotiated service agreements (NSA) for packages entered by consolidators at Post Office delivery units.

For June, the most recent month for which data is available, the SCI came in at 0.3.

The revisions, set to begin in January, will impact carriers, shippers and third-party logistics providers.

The report’s first quarter shipment index value, at 87.5, was off 7.8% compared to the fourth quarter and down 21.6% annually.On the spend side, the report observed that the first quarter reading, at 194.7, fell 27.9% annually and was down 16.8%, from the third fourth quarter to the first quarter.

The new “State of Transportation” report issued today by Green Bay, Wis.-based Breakthrough, a provider of fuel and freight solutions for shippers, addressed myriad components of freight transportation and logistics impacting shippers and carriers, including volatile weather, sustainability and emissions reduction, and over-the-road capacity, among others. 

Company officials said that this new facility is a full-service operation where the company processes shipments and directly serves customers at its new retail ServicePoint counter. And they added that the $7.3 million facility also increases shipment capacity and also enables faster processing, which results in faster pickup cutoff times for Eastern Virginia-based shippers.
