Port of Long Beach appoints Hacebaga as its next CEO, effective January 1
Hacebaga currently serves as POLB Chief Operating Officer. He has been at POLB for the last 15 years in various senior management roles, and in his current position he oversees daily operations, including commercial services, engineering, finance and administration, planning and environmental affairs, and strategic advocacy.  

POLA and POLB volumes see October declines
POLA reported that October volume, at 848,431 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEU), fell 6.25% annually, and POLB reported that October volume, at 839,671 TEU, fell 14.9% annually, compared to October 2024, the port’s strongest month on record in its 114 years of operations.

POLA and POLB volumes remain strong in August
POLA reported that total volume, at 958,355 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEU), saw a 6% annual increase. The Port of Long Beach reported that August volume, at 901,846 TEU, was off 1.3% from its August 2024 record, while still posting its second-best volume August on record, as well as its sixth-busiest month in port history.

July volumes hit records for Port of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach
POLA reported that total July volume, at 1,019,837 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEU), increased 8.5% annually, marking the highest-volume month in the port’s 117 years of operations. The Port of Long Beach reported that total July volume, at 944,232 TEU, rose 7% annually, setting a new July record, topping the previous high set in 2024, while posting the third-highest tally, for any month, on record for the port.

POLA and POLB see mixed June volumes
POLA reported that total June volume, at 892,340 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEU), posted an 8% annual gain, marking the highest-volume June in the port’s 117 years of operation. June Port of Long Beach volume, at 704,703 TEU, fell 16.4% annually.

Port of Long Beach reports May volume declines
Total May volume, at 639,160 TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units), fell 8.2% annually, reported POLB. Imports, at 299,116, fell 13.4% annually, and exports, at 82,149 TEU, were off 18.6%. Empty containers saw a 3.2% annual increase, to 257,895 TEU.

POLA and POLB post strong April gains, but port leaders warn of major May drop due to tariff uncertainty
POLA reported that total April volume, at 842,806 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEU) increased 9.4% annually, for its third-best April on record. Total April POLB volume, at 867,943 TEU, marked a 15.6% annual gain, for the port’s strongest April in its history, topping April 2022 by 5.7%.

Keeping in line with its myriad sustainability initiatives, the Port of Long Beach (POLB) recently announced it has rolled out two new incentive-based programs, for a cumulative $57.4 million, focused on accelerating emissions reductions through the purchase of zero-emissions cargo handling equipment and cleaner harbor craft.

POLA and POLB October report record-setting October volumes
POLA reported that total October volume, at 905,026 TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units), marked a 25% annual increase, for a new all-time monthly high, while also being the fourth straight month the port has topped the 900,000 TEU mark, for the first time in POLA history. The Port of Long Beach reported total October volume of 987,191 TEU, a 30.7% annual increase, the highest-volume month in its history, topping the previous record set in August by 8%, and up for the fifth consecutive month.

POLA and POLB each set new third quarter and September volume records
POLA reported that September volume came in at 954,706 TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units), representing a 27% annual increase, hitting a new September record. The Port of Long Beach reported that September volume, at 829,499 TEU, topped September 2023 by a mere 70 TEU, topping September 2023 for a new record for the month.
