A trio of industry stakeholders—each focused on different areas of surface transportation, including truckload, ground parcel, and less-than-truckload (LTL)—addressed current market conditions for their respective modes, as well as take a look at key priorities shippers need to be focusing on in 2026, at a session at this week’s Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) EDGE conference in National Harbor, Maryland.

The company said this lane is based around a freight consolidation at its Cincinnati terminal, coupled with shipments routed to Laredo, El Paso, McAllen, Brownsville, Eagle Pass, and Del Rio. And for the final mile delivery to these cities, Pitt Ohio said it will work with its southern U.S. partner carrier Averitt Express.

The $56 billion a year less-than-truckload (LTL) industry is changing in ways unforeseen even five years ago.

The deal is a private acquisition in a move learned by Logistics Management. The deal, which will not be formally announced, is expected to close by the end of the year. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

The LTL market’s surprising profitability and ability to not only exist, but to become the most lucrative and well-managed niche of the overall $830 billion trucking industry, is astounding to even veteran leaders in the sector. How is this happening?

Pittsburgh-based less-than-truckload (LTL), logistics and warehouse services provider PITT OHIO said it has made transit time improvements, to the West Coast, in the form of a partnership with Cypress, Calif.-based LTL and supply chain services provider Daylight Transport.

Company officials said that with the addition of these lanes, the carrier can now move freight within one-day to and from PITT OHIO’s New York State-based terminals in Albany, Buffalo, Utica, and Watertown to terminals in it its Mid-Atlantic core territory. What’s more, the company added that, through this expansion, its shipper customers now have one-day transit times from nine PITT OHIO terminals to and from Albany, Buffalo, and Utica, with five Mid-Atlantic terminals now running next-day service...
