National diesel average falls for the third consecutive week, reports EIA

The national average price per gallon of diesel gasoline dropped for the third consecutive week, according to data issued today by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Falling 4.5 cents, the national average, for the week of October 20, came in at $3.620, following a 4.6-cent decline, to $3.665, for the week of October 13, and a 4.3-cent decrease, to $3.711, for the week of October 6, for a collective 13.4-cent decline over the last three weeks. Which was preceded by a $0.005-cent increase, to $3.754, for the week of September 29, and a $0.01-cent increase, to $3.749, for the week of September 22.

Prior to that, the national average saw a 2.7-cent decline, to $3.739, for the week of September 15, a 3.2-cent increase, to $3.7666, for the week of September 8, and a 2.6-cent increase, to $3.734, for the week of September 1, and hitting its highest weekly average since the week of July 28, at $3.805.

On an annual basis, the national average increased 6.7 cents, ahead of the 3.4-cent annual gain seen for the week of October 13.
