XPO Logistics heralds milestones for XPO Connect and Drive XPO

Greenwich, Conn.-based global freight transportation and logistics services provider XPO Logistics said today that its XPO Connect digital freight market place has hit  two new global milestones, with more than 200,000 downloads for the Drive XPO mobile app, with more than 65,000 carriers now registered on the platform.

XPO Connect was initially introduced in April 2018. The offering provides shippers with a single point of entry for visibility across various transportation modes in real time, which, in turn, helps shippers identify both time- and cost-saving opportunities. And it also noted that XPO Connect enables shippers to gain access to usable business intelligence that can be leveraged to more efficiently purchase transportation in various ways. And the Drive XPO mobile app is used by commercial truck drivers to search for loads.

XPO officials said that the respective milestones announced today mark a 100% increase in app downloads and a 63% increase in carrier registrations going back to January 2020, with XPO kicking off 2020 with a cumulative 100,000 driver downloads and 40,000 registered carriers since its inception in 2018.

XPO provided various factors for the increases in Drive XPO carrier adoption, including:

  • XPO Connect’s increasing traction as the technology of choice for digital truck brokerage transactions. In the first half of September alone, approximately 12,000 drivers downloaded the Drive XPO app for access to the platform;
  • XPO’s rapid response to the pandemic to keep supply chains moving. In April, the company deployed COVID-19 safety resources on XPO Connect, including a multilingual carrier dashboard that aggregates alerts issued by states, provinces, countries and infrastructure sources; and
  • XPO’s ongoing development of XPO Connect capabilities. The company recently added several new features to the mobile app, including a Get Me Home tool, which reduces a truck’s empty miles by locating loads on the driver's way home. Another enhancement streamlines proof-of-delivery uploads for faster payment processing.

“The immediate access to capacity that XPO Connect brings to every transaction is really resonating with shippers and carriers,” said Drew Wilkerson, XPO’s president of North American transportation, in a statement.  “September has been another strong month for driver app downloads. We’ll continue to ensure quality service for our customers by developing capabilities that are important to our carriers.”
