Manhattan Associates releases updated version of flagship TMS

Supply chain software provider Manhattan Associates recently rolled out an updated release of its cloud-based Transportation Management System (TMS), entitled Manhattan TMS, which it said augments the offering’s modeling capabilities, as well as upgrades to its carrier connectivity, benchmark rating, and expanded global logistics support components.

Company officials said that Manhattan TMS has multiple offerings for shippers such as improving carrier collaboration and connectivity; delivering network-wide visibility to enable advanced strategic and operational planning; execution; and real-time route adjustments necessary to improve efficiencies.

The key elements of this release include: advanced transportation modeling; mobile enhancements; partner ecosystem expansion; and contract management.

“At Manhattan we are continuously investing in our TMS solution, improving its depth and breadth of functionality, to ensure our transportation customers have the critical advantages they need in an increasingly competitive marketplace,” Gregg Lanyard, Director of Product Management at Manhattan Associates, told LM. The past year has been tumultuous for the industry, which has led to an increased focus on improving transportation operations. Our latest release is a direct response to helping to solve these challenges. We have been recently recognized by Gartner for our commitment to TMS innovation, as they named Manhattan Associates a Leader in the 2019 Magic Quadrant for Transportation Management Systems (TMS).”

“With supply chains becoming more complex than ever before, Lanyard explained it is increasingly challenging to execute in today’s shipping environment. “By adding new features that further enhance our proven strategic modeling tool, our mobile solution offering and our in depth rating capabilities, Manhattan is helping our global customers to optimize their transportation networks and fulfill their customer commitments in a more profitable manner,” he said. “Our latest release improves enterprise visibility and costing, and enables proactive, strategic planning, ultimately driving efficiencies in the supply chain. This makes our TMS one of the most advanced and user-friendly solutions available on the market right now.”

When asked what the key differences are in this release of Manhattan TMS compared to previous version, Lanyard noted that the new versionfeatures both strategic and operational enhancements that help reduce costs and improve service levels.

“Our advanced Transportation Modeling capabilities now enable companies to perform more powerful ‘what if’ analyses within their network,” he said. “This includes the ability to more accurately simulate real-world constraints and unlock additional savings. Our TMS Mobile app has been expanded to support our shipper users, enabling real-time shipment visibility and superior customer service 24/7/365.  And our rating enhancements ensure that we execute and settle optimally and according to plan. As our TMS continues to grow, these features will continue to help drive savings for our Manhattan partners.”
