Scotland’s HGV drivers are facing a growing crisis. A shortage of safe, high-quality rest facilities is contributing to poor health outcomes, rising freight crime, and increasing difficulties in recruiting and retaining drivers across the logistics sector.
The government’s third Road Investment Strategy (RIS3), published on 26 August, recognises that the UK’s motorways and trunk roads are “the economic arteries of the country” and it is “delays, bottlenecks and deteriorating infrastructure that stifle progress.”
The new Assessment of Priority Skills to 2030 was published by Skills England on 12 August.
