West Chester, Penn.-based freight transportation and supply chain services provider A. Duie Pyle said this week it has opened up a new less-than-truckload (LTL) service center in Rochester, New York. This is the eighth facility it has opened in 2025, as well as its 36th service center in the company’s Northeast footprint.
The new Rochester service center, which is located at 1574 Emerson Street, Rochester, N.Y. 14606, is comprised of 6.3 acres and 25 service doors and is in close proximity to major interstates, including I-490, which provides easy access to I-90, and is also close to various commercial hubs. Company officials added that the opening of this service center addressed growing regional shipping needs in several ways, including: enhancing connectivity; improving freight flows; and enabling more efficient management of rising shipment volumes.
In terms of staffing, the company said that this new service center has created 26 new positions, including 17 drivers, five dock workers, one technician, and three leaders. And by the end of this year, it expects to staff more than 50 people.
“Opening our new LTL service center in Rochester was a deliberate step in Pyle’s long-term strategic plan to strengthen our footprint across the Northeast,” John Luciani, COO of LTL Solutions at Pyle, told LM. “Rochester has been on our radar for several years due to growing demand from both existing and prospective customers in the region. As supply chains grow more complex and transit time expectations rise, we saw an opportunity to enhance our network with a location that gives us the operational flexibility and geographic reach to better serve New York and neighboring markets. Rather than a reactive decision, this was a planned move aligned with our network modeling and growth projections, supporting our ongoing commitment to building a smarter, more responsive supply chain infrastructure.”
Prior to the Rochester opening, Luciani said A. Duie Pyle serviced this area from its Syracuse and Buffalo service centers, explaining that while effective, this structure limited its ability to deliver a satisfactory level of speed and flexibility to customers in the greater Rochester area.
This new facility gives us full control of service in the area and positions us to offer more dependable next-day deliveries and expanded pickup windows,” he said. “As with all new facilities, customer volume will ramp over time. Currently, the center is serving dozens of customers across various industries, with that number expected to grow significantly in the coming quarters as we continue onboarding accounts and maximizing the location’s strategic potential.”
As for how shipper customers will benefit from this new service center, Luciani noted that they will benefit from earlier deliveries, later pickups and improved service consistency—all vital in today’s fast-paced logistics environment.
“The Rochester facility’s proximity to major highways like I-490 and I-90 enables faster freight flow, better lane optimization and increased flexibility,” he said. “For shippers, this translates to greater reliability, tighter supply chain coordination and an ability to meet evolving customer expectations.”
From a competitive perspective, Luciani said that the opening of this new facility strengthens the depth and reach of Pyle’s regional network.
“With this move, we are strategically increasing network density to improve efficiency, reduce freight handoffs and support more direct routing,” he said. “This facility enhances our ability to manage volume surges, adapt to shifting customer needs and maintain high on-time performance across the Northeast. Additionally, the opening of the Rochester service center provides increased network capacity in our existing facilities located in Syracuse and Buffalo, New York.
