U.S.-based retailers are preparing for stock shortages this holiday season

As the holiday shopping season kicks into gear, many U.S. retailers are bracing for possible supply chain disruptions that could leave shelves emptier than planned.

According to Accenture’s latest Holiday Shopping Surveys, seven in 10 retail executives say they’re worried that supply chain shocks could derail their holiday sales. The same number are concerned about delivering online orders on time, while nearly two-thirds (64%) fear they won’t have enough stock to meet demand.

Frontline workers are feeling the strain, too. More than eight in 10 (82%) say items listed as “in stock” online are often unavailable in stores, and 73% report frequent price mismatches between channels. They warn that those disconnects can frustrate shoppers and hurt customer trust at the most critical time of the year.
