Dematic FIRST Scholarship applications open

Robotics and STEM students invited to apply by Saturday, May 31


Warehouse automation and supply chain solutions provider Dematic is kicking off its annual scholarship program dedicated to advancing education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), calling for student applications.

Since 2008, Dematic has partnered with the nonprofit For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST), a global nonprofit dedicated to advancing STEM education. In the last five years, Dematic has invested more than $390,000 in local FIRST teams, events, and student scholarships. As part of this continued partnership, Dematic is awarding:

  • Two (2) $5,000 scholarships 
  • 10 (10) $1,000 scholarships 

The application:

Applications will be submitted online. Students will be asked to upload:

  • A high school transcript for graduation verification or expected graduation date. 
  • A letter of recommendation from an adult mentor/coach on your FIRST team, teacher, or guidance counselor (recommended, not required). 
  • An essay (max. 1,000 words) addressing the following topic: 

o Dematic employees and customers live and work in places where there are challenges related to water resources. Some examples of water issues we face are as follows: 

o  Microplastics 

o  Coral Reef Conservation 

o  Surface Runoff 

o  Pollution 

o  Scarcity 

o  Distribution and Supply 

o  Aquatic life 

o  Erosion 

  • Identify a water resources issue in your area and propose a solution using existing or new technologies. Outline a high-level plan to include the following: 

Describe the issue 

o  State your objective 

o  List key features and benefits of your plan 

o  Identify roadblocks and potential solutions

WHO: 

To be considered for this scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Participated in a FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC®) or was on a FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC®) Team during high school.
  • Applied and be admitted to a post-secondary institution (including trade schools) as a full or part-time student.

o You can apply for this scholarship without being admitted yet.

o  You must be pursuing a post-secondary degree or certification at a North American academic institution. STEM degrees and certifications are preferred.

o  Available to undergraduate students for the Fall of 2025.

Previous Dematic FIRST Scholarship winners are ineligible to win again.
