Chicago-based Uber Freight is rolling out a pilot program based on a new scheduled application programing interface (API), which it said will represent the “first activation” of the Scheduling Standards Consortium (SSC) Technical Standard.

Efforts to streamline freight movement took a step forward on Monday when the Scheduling Standards Consortium announced the release of its first API for transportation management systems.

Entitled FedEx Sustainability Insights, the company said this new cloud-based tool, which was created by FedEx Dataworks, leverages near-real time FedEx network data to estimate CO2e emissions for both individual tracking numbers and FedEx.com accounts.

The investment was led by Thoma Bravo, TPG, and Goldman Sachs Asset Management, coupled with participation from Emergence Capital, Insight Partners, Chicago Ventures, Generation Investment Management, Sapphire, and Sozo Ventures each acquiring equity shares in project44 and resulting in a pre-money valuation of $2.2 billion.

At the heart of this collaboration is SEKO’s LTL Home Delivery Home Delivery Solution, a reliable and cost-effective nationwide last-mile and white glove option for the delivery of big and bulky e-commerce orders joining ShipStation’s partner network, in which SEKO will be ShipStation’s debut LTL services provider.

With this round of investment, project44 said its market cap now stands at $1.2 billion, with the company having raised $442.5 million to date.
