A. Duie Pyle rolls out expanded Westfield, Mass.-based Integrated Distribution Center

Westchester, Penn.-based freight transportation and supply chain services provider A. Duie Pyle recently announced it has expanded its Westfield, Mass.-based Integrated Distribution Center, which re-opened late last month.

Company officials said that this expansion includes a new Accessory Transfer and Distribution Center to the current location at 66 Ampad Road in Westfield, Mass. And it also is comprised of a 35,500 square-foot service center and an 8,800 square-foot fleet maintenance facility.

What’s more, it now has 53 LTL (less-than-truckload) cross-dock doors and a three-bay shop and truck wash at its fleet maintenance facility. This expansion, the company said, is located on its existing 67-acre campus that houses three warehouses with cumulatively more than 820,000 square-feet.

“We’re excited to increase capacity and services at our Westfield Integrated Distribution Center as it provides us with additional capacity to better meet the needs of our LTL, warehouse and dedicated customers,” said John Luciani, COO of LTL Solutions at A. Duie Pyle, in a statement. “Pyle’s first commitment is always our customers, and this expanded facility gives us an opportunity to make significant strides in improving transit times while providing greater operational flexibility for the western Massachusetts communities we service.”

An A. Duie Pyle representative told LM that as a 96-year-old privately held, family-owned business, A. Duie Pyle takes a long-term approach in all of its business dealings.

“We built a state-of-the-art cross dock and fleet maintenance facility to support our growth in the western Massachusetts market,” she said. “Our new facility includes a truck wash to support all Pyle operations, including our LTL, dedicated and warehouse fleet moving in the I90, 91 & 89 corridors.

As for the biggest shipper customer benefits of this news, the representative said that Pyle’s LTL customers will benefit from added operational flexibility with an operation based in Westfield, adding that being closer to its customer base gives the company the ability to deliver earlier in the day and pick-up later in the evening.

“The advantage of basing our LTL and distribution services on the same campus allows us to offer later LTL cut times to our distribution customers,” she said. “This allows for later order receipt cutoff times for our distribution customers. Now, orders can be received, picked up and delivered same day in our dedicated operations or dropped into our LTL network for overnight delivery throughout our operating area. Additionally, having these operations on the same campus allows us to take advantage of certain operating efficiencies that help to control our customer’s distribution and delivery costs.”

A. Duie Pyle also said that as shipping demand surges and travel restrictions ebb over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, this expansion in Westfield helps to reduce transit times for both essential and non-essential goods.
